Job Summary

In this three-year fixed-term contract, you will be located in our Bangladesh office where you will work flexibly to advocate UK humanitarian objectives. This will mean building relationships and working externally with a large range of humanitarian partners and governments. Internally you will be working with colleagues at all levels, with a particular emphasis on senior officials and Ministers. Working collaboratively with HQ humanitarian policy and research teams, you will see to it that all are learning from each other, which will result in the development of impactful humanitarian policies and diplomacy. You will also provide technical advice on the design, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of a broad range of humanitarian programmes, giving them the best chance of success.

Alongside this fascinating and fulfilling career prospect, you will also be expected to contribute 10% of your time to FCDO humanitarian work that is beyond your immediate team. – so, there will be plenty of variety in your work.

To be equal to the challenge we will therefore expect you to have significant experience of delivering humanitarian outcomes at an expert level. On a practical level, your technical competencies (prioritise, reform, protect and prevent) will be assessed against the FCDO Humanitarian Technical Competency Framework 2022. In addition to technical competencies, you will have exceptional communication and influencing skills, and you will always be capable of seeing the bigger picture

Reserve list - Candidates who meet the required level at interview will be kept on a reserve list for 12 months. Should another humanitarian adviser, or substantially similar vacancy arise within this period overseas or in the UK, we may offer it to a reserve candidate from this specific recruitment campaign.
