CARE International in Niger launched an emergency response to address both the food crisis and the influx of refugees. An After Action Review was conducted on September 6-7 2012 to identify key lessons and recommendation to improve CARE's emergency response capacity in the future. A two-day workshop was held in Niamey, Niger. Staff from CARE Niger, CARE USA and CARE Deutschland-Luxemburg participated. The review examined the timeline of the response and its key activities, analysed the successes and challenges and explored the underlying issues and factors to these successes and challenges. Recommendations were formulated so as to build the capacity of the CARE Niger country office for future responses and a plan was developed so as to bring action to the recommendations.
