This review has focused the UK’s bilateral aid programme in fewer countries so we can target our support where it will make the biggest difference and where the need is greatest.

Our resources and impact will be concentrated on 27 countries which account for three quarters of global maternal mortality and nearly three quarters of global malaria deaths: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Burma, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique, Nepal, Nigeria, Occupied Palestinian Territories, Pakistan, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Tajikistan,Tanzania, Uganda,Yemen, Zambia and Zimbabwe. This document sets out a summary of the bilateral programmes in the 27 focus countries and three regional programmes in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean.
