This article addresses violence against women and girls in emergencies and was used as a source for synthesised recommendations used in the Briefing Papers for the Global Forum on Improving Humanitarian Action, taking place in New York on 4/5 June 2015.

The Briefing Papers are intended to provide a general background to the key obstacles that inhibit good, effective humanitarian action, and the recommendations that have been put forward around the WHS process to address these obstacles.
