A reference tool for policymakers and practitioners to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of programming (2nd Edition)
In 2019, the Progress Acceleration Workshop underscored the importance of gathering and sharing evidence on how donors and recipients structure and use funding to better meet humanitarian needs. Responding to this need, the first catalogue of quality funding practices was published in 2020, showcasing mechanisms that enhance humanitarian response. Building on this foundation, Grand Bargain signatories reaffirmed in 2023 their commitment to expand quality funding through 2026, which led to the release of an updated edition.
This updated catalogue not only addresses the original evidence gap but also incorporates progress on new initiatives, including locally and NGO‑led efforts. In doing so, it continues to serve as a reference on funding mechanisms that strengthen humanitarian action and broader crisis response.
It provides a reference tool for policymakers and practitioners, (Grand Bargain signatories and non-signatories), with examples of how funding is and could be provided to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of programming.
