opportunity to raise awareness of the link between disaster risk and poverty, and to better ‘disaster-proof’ development to ensure development outcomes are sustainable and investments are not lost. To be effective, the post-MDG and post-Hyogo processes need to take into account learnings from the strengths and weaknesses of the current frameworks, and reflect the views and experiences of those most affected by disaster.
