Y Care International’s emergency response contributed to slowing and eventually ending the outbreak of Ebola in Sierra Leone and Liberia through YMCAs there. Emergency response activities focused on increasing community understanding through trained young community volunteers, and providing access to preventative measures such as hand-washing facilities, in locations and communities where Sierra Leone and Liberia YMCAs had existing presence and capacity. The various emergency response projects were evaluated, and the key findings and recommendations are summarised in this publication.
