This study offers insights into the economics of WFP's food voucher programme, documenting its direct and indirect effects on the Jordanian economy. Findings of this study rely on secondary data, field visits, and the implementation of an input-output model. Key sources of data include WFP’s emergency operation office, retailers participating in the food voucher programme, academia, NGOs, Board of Commerce and the Ministry of Planning.
The intent of this study is to estimate the economic benefits of the food voucher programme implemented by the World Food Programme (WFP) for Syrian refugees in Jordan. A better understanding of direct and indirect economic effects of the food voucher programme will enable WFP and its partners to make informed decisions about the design and implementation of such programmes in Jordan and beyond.
