White Nile is an agricultural state where the majority of the households rely on agriculture as their main source of income. A state-level food security assessment was carried out in October 2010, partly to feed into the 2010 Crop and Food Security Assessment Mission (CFSAM) planned for November and December, but also to assist WFP and other stakeholders in determining the level of need for humanitarian assistance in 2011. The assessment was a joint undertaking by HAC, State Ministry of Health and Ministry of Agriculture. The general objective of the assessment was to; - Assess the food security situation of the urban and rural population in White Nile. Food security results indicate that slightly more rural households are moderately food insecure than urban households.
