Acknowledgements
This guide is the result of an extensive and participatory process that would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of numerous people over several years.
We are sincerely grateful for the continuous and invaluable support offered by the advisory group. This group represented various constituencies of the ALNAP membership and a wide range of evaluation stakeholders. The group comprised Katy Bobin, Michael Carbon, Kassem El Saddik, Mohit Holmesheoran, Helene Juillard, Megan Kennedy-Chouane, John Mitchell, Sylvestre Musengimana, Olivia Roberts, Neelofar Shahzad, Michele Tarsilla, Miki Tsukamoto and Henri Van Den Idsert. Special thanks go to John Mitchell for expertly chairing the group and to the advisory group members who supported the consultation phase by moderating or co-facilitating events.
The consultation phase was greatly facilitated by partnerships with the 360 Consulting Agency, Asia Pacific Evaluation Association (APEA), Groupe URD, Key Aid Consulting, the Lebanese Evaluation Association (LebEval), Réseau Francophone de l’Évaluation (RFE), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the UN Evaluation Group (UNEG), the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and the World Food Programme (WFP). This phase of the process would not have been successful without the engagement and feedback of hundreds of event participants and survey respondents.
We also thank the reference group for their useful and thoughtful feedback on the first draft of the guide: Nashwan Ahmed, Nawel Aouissi-Padioleau, Lori Bell, Johana Bretou-Klein, Kathryn Dinh, Joerg Faust, Mohammed Ziaulhaq Lamea, Andrew Lawday, Sanjukta Moorthy, Thomas Scialfa, Julia Steets, Zaki Ullah and Elisabeth Vikman. Several members of the reference group also provided additional input to the process, which was much valued.
We are grateful for the input and support provided at various points of the process by Fabienne Bedechian, Eva Brandt Broegaard, Zlata Bruckauf, James Darcy, Andy Featherstone, Adamou Illiassou, Marion Gillet, Nabila Hameed, Rola Hbeichi, Sara Holst, Amra Lee, Jess Lees, Valérie Léon, Alessandra Mantovan, Javier Mata Fabra, Cristina de Nicolás Izquierdo, Laura Olsen, Isabelle de Schryver, Carly Sheehan, Aya Shneerson, Lewis Sida, Teia Rogers, Laura Tagle and Julie Thoulouzan.
Finally, we thank the following current and former ALNAP Secretariat staff for their precious and continued support: Aaron Acuda, Mae Albiento, Hana Abul Husn, Emmeline Kerkvliet, Molly Maple, Alice Obrecht, Juliet Parker, Daniel Squire, Josefine Ulbrich, Anna-Louise Van der Merwe, Wairimu Wanjau and particularly Susanna Morisson-Métois for her leadership of the initial stages of this project.
