DRC aims to position itself as the best problem-solver with regards to displacement and integration. To support this vision DRC needs to continuously learn from and improve its operations. We need to understand when we are able to protect and support people fleeing conflicts and persecution and we also need to learn from and understand when and why we fail. In addition, DRC needs to justify both the financial and human resources being spent around the world in order to be accountable to relevant stakeholders.

The DRC Evaluation Policy has been developed to serve this vision by firstly supporting operations in understanding the results of our work and capturing lessons learned through evaluations. This will provide the organisation from field and country to regional and headquarter with the evidence on which to build new projects and programmes that address the ever-changing protection challenges. Secondly by documenting our results and lessons learned it enables DRC to be accountable to all stakeholders, beneficiaries, contributors and donors, and be open and transparent about achievements.
