This study compares the present context of the settlement, shelter and housing of those affected by natural disasters with that prevailing in 1982, the year of the publication by UNDRO of ‘Shelter After Disaster: Guidelines for Assistance’.
The purpose is to inform the forthcoming revision of the guidelines, which is being undertaken as a collaboration between Shelter Centre and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN/OCHA), for publication by UN/OCHA in 2008
