Over the last decade, Pakistan has experienced large-scale internal displacement caused by a range of natural and human-made disasters. Hazard mapping already carried out by ACF in much of the target area has identified floods and earthquakes as the high risk widespread disasters that exist, while avalanches and landslides have been identified as more localized hazards. Thus, ACF carried out a DRM project funded by the Royal Norwegian Embassy during 2011-12 to reduce morbidity and mortality risks by improving community resilience to natural disasters. ACF obtained additional funding from the Norwegian Embassy to implement a second phase of the project in four districts in KP, including Upper and Lower Dir, Charsadda and Nowshera from January 2013 to September 2014. The general objective was to enable communities to prepare for and mitigate the impacts of disasters using participatory methods aimed at strengthening the self-reliance capacities of the population and reinforcing or adapting infrastructure. This document presents the final evaluation report which investigated the programme according to the DAC criteria.
