In 2011, ACF embarked on a 3-year project to integrate the CMAM (Community-based Management of Acute Malnutrition) programme into the health system in Moyamba District. This project aimed to support the District Health Management Team (DHMT) to durably improve the management of acute malnutrition according to the national policy and protocols, with three key areas of activities, including community mobilisation for detection and referral of cases, capacity strengthening of health facilities for the treatment of acute malnutrition, and support to the DHMT to manage and coordinate nutrition programmes, including CMAM, in the district.

The main purpose and the scope of this evaluation was to broadly assess the impact and approach of the project and to suggest recommendations for improved efficiency, effectiveness and long-term impact.
