During 2017-18, Action Against Hunger (ACF) implemented a Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) project to address the urgent need for water in Mosul city and villages in the Ninewa Governorate of Iraq, immediately after the ending of military hostilities. The main objective of the intervention was to improve the wellbeing of the most affected populations through the improvement of WASH infrastructures and community mobilization in Governorates affected by the Mosul crisis.

This evaluation was commissioned by Action Against Hunger with the purpose of reviewing the WASH sub-sector work against its original objectives and assessing the impact on beneficiaries. The evaluation started on the 8th April with an inception period in the UK and finished on the 6th May 2018. From the 10th- 20st April, the evaluator conducted a field mission to Iraq where his activities included interviews with stakeholders, design and analysis of a Rapid Survey carried out by data collectors in 6 villages; documentation review and feedback workshops.
