
The scope of this report focuses on Haiyan-affected indigenous communities and the international and local relief efforts undertaken therein. Indigenous people are among the most affected by the disaster, thus increasing their already particular vulnerability. They often live in areas of difficult access, which under the present circumstances result is extremely limited access to services and assistance.
This report examines IPs’ rights and the protection thereof in international and Philippine law in situations of natural disasters with a special focus on super typhoon Haiyan. Presenting findings from the field, recommendations for all stakeholders in natural disasters have been generated.
