This report provides a background to the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) MAPS thematic study and outlines the main conceptual ideas underpinning DRR. It also identifies common approaches, strategies, lessons and challenges faced by MAPS partners in introducing DRR within their organisations. The case study described is the approach to DRR taken by Trócaire in Central America.
