This document shows the pilot experience carried out by Practical Action in partnership with the local community and the municipality of Lurigancho-Chosica in Lima, Peru, to apply new communication technologies, free software and hardware to improve early warning systems (EWS) for floods and landslides. This document outlines a participatory approach that demonstrates the appropriate use of technology to monitor and disseminate risk information.
