February 2013
This joint assessment in Damietta, which took place between the 5 – 10February 2013 is part of an ongoing inter-agency effort to assess the needs of Syrians in Egypt. UNHCR, WFP, IOM, UNICEF, CRS and RESALA participated in the assessment.
New Damietta in Egypt has been identified as a key location hosting Syrians. Syrians have come to the area due to an existing social network and/or because they have skills in carpentry which the area is known for. New Damietta is also less expensive than Cairo.
