Mali entered a period of crisis and insecurity in 2012 that affects the humanitarian component. The rate of severe acute malnutrition is 2.6%, well above the emergency threshold of the World Health Organization (WHO), set at 2% (SMART 2017). More alarming: between 2017 and 2018, the number of children suffering from severe acute malnutrition increased by more than 10%, from 142,000 to 165,000.
