In July 2025, Nepal’s Madhesh Province was struck by a severe drought that left over a million people at risk, compounded by a cholera outbreak linked to unsafe water. The Nepal Red Cross Society, with IFRC support, launched its first drought response operation to provide safe water, sanitation, hygiene promotion, and health interventions. This Lessons Learned Workshop Report documents the experiences, challenges, and achievements of that response, capturing evidence and reflections to strengthen preparedness, accountability, and future emergency planning.
