Rebuilding Societies: Strategies for Resilience and Recovery in Times of Conflict

Rebuilding societies resilience in conflict png

This paper lays out what the international community can do to help violence-torn countries in the Greater Middle East (MENA) restore their social cohesion and cope effectively with the ongoing refugee crisis. More specifically, the report's author 1) clarifies why the fates of refugees, internationally displaced persons and local communities in the region are indeed interwoven; 2) outlines the key principles and implementation strategies that should govern international aid to the area (the emphasis should be on long-term recovery and not merely humanitarian relief); and 3) prioritizes the types of aid that should be distributed, particularly in light of existing funding limitations.
