This review (‘the Review’) was commissioned by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) to assess the strengths, weaknesses and appropriateness of approaches and methods used to evaluate interventions on violence against women and girls (VAWG). A distinctive feature of the Review is the effort we have undertaken to understand what makes an evaluation effective. In our understanding, an evaluation is effective if it has an influence on programme implementation, policy and wider learning.
