Sanitation, water and hygiene in rural areas of Zimbabwe: An empowering and sustainable approach for Millennium Development Goals

The specific objective of the project is to sustainably reduce morbidity and mortality from WASH related diseases, through improvements in access to water, the sanitary environment and hygiene practices, in rural populations in Mberengwa and Gutu Districts, Zimbabwe. The main finding is that communities are growing in confidence and are taking responsibility for improving WASH access as well as in planning and implementation of their local level initiatives as a result of the project. Also several recommendations are drawn according to the evaluation carried on the ground.
