What is Ushahidi? Meaning “testimony” in Swahili, Ushahidi is a new website that facilitates the crowdsourcing and mapping of crisis information in near real-time using mobile phones, email and the Web. To this end, Ushahidi documents crisis information that would otherwise go unreported. The tool was developed by Kenyans in the wake of the post-election violence in 2007/2008. Ushahidi ?is a free and open-source platform.
