DFID's aid spending for nutrition: 2010–2012

DFIDs aid spending for nutrition 2010 to 2012

This report looks at how the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID) invested in tackling under‑nutrition between 2010 and 2012. Using the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) approach, it tracks both nutrition‑specific projects (directly targeting under‑nutrition) and nutrition‑sensitive projects (programs that support nutrition indirectly, such as agriculture or health).

Over the three years, DFID provided a total of US$1.27 billion for nutrition efforts, with annual funding rising by nearly 40%. Nutrition‑specific projects grew faster than nutrition‑sensitive ones, though most of the money still went to the latter. Ethiopia and India received the largest share of support, together accounting for more than two‑fifths of all funding.

By making this information clear and accessible, the analysis helps ensure donors are held accountable for their commitments and shows where progress is being made in the fight against under‑nutrition
