ALNAP is seeking a qualified Research Consultant to conduct a literature review on the impact of leadership development programs in the humanitarian sector. This research will contribute to understanding how executive leadership initiatives can foster change within the sector, supporting a more adaptable and collaborative humanitarian response.
Responsibilities Include:
- Conduct a literature review focused on executive leadership programs and their impact on humanitarian leadership.
- Organize key themes and identify gaps in the current research.
- Meet weekly with the project lead to discuss progress and emerging themes.
- Deliver a final 10,000-word synthesis of findings by January 20th.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
Required:
- A degree in a relevant discipline
- Some knowledge of humanitarian assistance and/or leadership
- Demonstrated experience in conducting structured literature review/synthesis
- Able to write, in English, in a clear and consistent style, adhering to the agreed document length.
- Strong interpersonal skills and cultural awareness
- Ability to work on own initiative with remote/virtual management
- Good analytical and writing skills
- Excellent IT skills (word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Desirable
- Previous experience in an international policy research environment
- Experience with using coding software

- Two references from professional assignments undertaken in the last 5 years. The assignments must be thematically relevant to the scope of work of this assignment.
