Improving the visibility of local and national actors in humanitarian aid data cover

This report explores how local and national organisations in Somalia can gain greater visibility in humanitarian aid data.

Despite their central role, these actors are often missing from the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI), making it difficult to track progress on the Grand Bargain’s commitment to support local partners directly. Development Initiatives, funded by the Netherlands’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs, piloted a prototype tool that combines IATI data with OCHA’s 3W (Who, What, Where) reports. The tool shows how data interoperability can highlight who local organisations are, where they work, and their past collaborations, helping donors build trust and strengthen localisation without adding reporting burdens.
