Humanitarian organisations have argued that investing in innovation will deliver greater efficiency and effectiveness in emergency responses. It could also transform the way the humanitarian system operates.

We have explored the impact of innovation within humanitarian action and identified steps humanitarian innovators can take to increase the chances of success. Our research has also looked at how organisations can monitor and evaluate innovation programmes.

Across the sector, humanitarians continue to experiment with new approaches and technologies. They are continuously documenting lessons learned, identifying challenges and opportunities, and analysing how innovation is funded.
